This series represents the first work that I made after completing my BFA from IUP. It is coldly intellectual and reflects the detached existential philosophy that consumed me at that time in my life. I was inspired the most by Jean Paul Sartre, Friedrich Nietzche, David Hume, and George Smith. Much like the written works of all of those famous atheists, my works were created as an attack on all theological belief systems. My work's objective was to draw attention to the significance of this life, and this world, while vigorously condemning any paradigm, ideology, or religion that would emphasize the importance of another. I wanted to indict the promises of religious structures as cruel and counter-productive. Essentially, the work was motivated by my vehement rejection of the Roman Catholic dogma of my upbringing. At the same time, it begins to express my struggle for meaning without theology.
